One of the most famous horse racing events of the year that takes place every January at Kenilworth Racecourse in Cape Town is no longer called the J&B Met.
After 39 years of sponsoring this prestigious horseracing event, Diageo SA has made the decision to no longer align the J&B Brand with the Met. The 2016 J&B Met was the completion of a three year contract commitment to the event. Jeff Milliken, Managing Director of Diageo SA, says that in reviewing its strategy for the J&B brand, Diageo SA has made the decision to end the partnership and allocate resources to other brand initiatives. Milliken further said “We would like to thank the Met for a lengthy and fruitful partnership spanning nearly four decades. We are grateful to have been a part of such an iconic event and are certain of its continued success, with an incredible team at the helm to take it forward.”
This means that there is a new sponsor for this years event and excitingly it was announced that Sun International has officially stepped in to take the reigns (per se).
The event will now be called The Sun Met Celebrated with Mumm.
For a dose of elegance, sophistication and fun, The Sun Met Celebrated with Mumm will take place on Saturday 28th January 2017 in all it’s well-known splendour and glory.
