Weekend Wrap 29 March

The Easter weekend was filled with sports action.  Here we highlight some of the best sporting events of the weekend.

Cricket

The group stages of the ICC World Twenty20 came to the end on Monday with the South Africa versus Sri Lanka fixture.  South Africa cruised to victory thanks to the half century from Amla.  Unfortunately the victory only put South Africa into 3rd place in the group and they failed to qualify for the semi-finals.

New Zealand plays England in the first semi-final on Wednesday, while the West Indies play hosts India on Thursday.

Current betting odds for the semi-finals are:

  • New Zealand 17/20
  • England 1/1
  • India 9/20
  • West Indies 18/10

Rugby

The Crusaders ended the Sharks unbeaten run with a 19-14 victory, thanks to a late Kieran Read try.  The Stormers bagged an away win with a 13-8 victory over the Jaguares in Buenos Aires and the Brumbies kept their top spot on the Australian group with a 25-18 victory over the Cheetahs.

The most entertaining match of the weekend was the 53-10 domination the Chiefs displayed against The Force.
