Who will win U-19 Cricket World Cup?

The 2016 ICC Under-19 Cricket World Cup is currently under way in Bangaldesh. This tournament is an international limited overs and holds ODI status. 16 teams from ICC member countries will be playing and is the 11th edition of the Under-19 Cricket World Cup.

U-19 Cricket World Cup: Final

The final takes place on Sunday the 14th February with India versus West Indies.

West Indies:

India may have a tough time against the currently strong West Indies team who are looking to pull a coup against the unbeaten India in the finals on Sunday. Shamar Springer is a man to watch as he took his team to an 88-ball 62 against Bangladesh in the semi finals.

What is remarkable about the West Indies’s entrance to the final is that it had lost the bilateral series against Bangladesh in early January. Said Captain Shimron Hetmyer: “It’s a very big transformation, but I would put it down to the guys not being accustomed to the conditions here in Bangladesh, the guys just needed a little time to adjust to the pitches and to the weather, all in one.”

When he was asked to summarise his feelings about the final Hetmyer went on to say that, “It’s a very, very good feeling for us. Being the second West Indies team to get into the final and possibly, if we play as well as we did today, we’ll win the final as well.”

India:

Having won three previous world cups, India has an incredibly strong chance of doing it again. Captained by Ishan Kishan and coached by former India cricketer Rahul Dravid, the team also has the best win percentage in ODIs (75%) among all Under-19 national teams.

India soared to the final of the Under-19 World Cup, for the fifth time, after their 97-run win against Sri Lanka in Mirpur. India’s top order was tested by Sri Lanka’s pacers on a pitch with a tinge of green, but Anmolpreet Singh and Sarfaraz Khan added 96 together, and from thereon there was no stopping India, as they eventually solidified their victory with 44 balls to spare.
